About Funky Dineva
Unbound by a new age in media and digital content, Quentin Latham’s incredible reach into stage, internet, radio and television has sparked a trajectory that’s well on its way to media mogul. A relative newcomer to the blogosphere, Quentin is best known for his character/alter ego Funky Dineva, and corresponding YouTube channel under the same name. With over 25 million views, as of February, 2017, Quentin’s electric personality, edgy humor and signature television and film reviews have endeared him, not only to millions of faithful followers, but celebrities alike. However, even more remarkable, Funky Dineva appeared quite by accident. Born in Miami, Quentin was never at a loss for words. Learning to channel that energy into morning announcements, multiple oratorical contests and the drama department during high school, it wasn’t until college at Florida State University that he surprisingly turned to a more muted vocation, earning his Bachelors in Economics. Soon after Quentin began his career as a corporate accountant in Florida before continuing to Atlanta in 2007, but something felt considerably off. That sting and suppression of his creative fire had begun to boil to the surface once again. Unsatisfied with his lifeless world of numbers, Quentin began seeking creative outlets, throwing parties on the weekends, which started boosting his social media status and local popularity. After one such Halloween party, Quentin found a discarded wig from his costume behind a couch, and in a moment of levity, threw it on and made a video. “My Hair is Layered,” which can still be found on YouTube, was his first video as Funky Dineva, and once it hit Quentin’s newly amplified social media accounts, there was no containing it. Dineva was an unstoppable force as Quentin continued creating videos, each one blowing up faster than the last, soon catching the eye of International recording artist, Estelle who hired Quentin to voice commentary for her mix-tapes.The success had only just begun as Quentin’s social media influence soared even higher, bringing YouTube to the table with a partnership offer, establishing Funky Dineva’s channel on the site. Soon after, Quentin received a call from Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss, who not only linked him with an agent and producers who were in hooked on the character, but offered Funky Dineva a part in her stage play, “A Mother’s Love.” Although Quentin had only intended this as a side-job, his corporate accounting position soon fell away and he devoted his full attention to his new creation, subsidizing the videos with a successful blog as well. Quentin, as Funky Dineva, has appeared in VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Reunion, Love & Hip Hop Dirty Little Secrets and Love & Hip Hop top 40 Moments, as well as TV One’s R&B Divas LA Reunion and Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, and was even praised by Kerry Washington and the cast of Scandal. Perhaps less of a media mogul, and more of an accidental empire, Quentin currently registers over 560,000 combined followers and subscribers on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, as well as millions of shares and views, truly stretching the scope and distance of his influence in pop culture. Quentin has made the most of his opportunities, driving himself from corporate accounting to Internet and YouTube powerhouse, living the full spectrum of making his dreams into a reality, and looks forward to where Funky Dineva will take him next.
